Why Family Traditions Matter
(and How They Keep Us Grounded in a Busy World)
Family has always been at the center of my life. Through the ups and downs, the changes, the relocations, and even the seasons of heartbreak, one thing that has kept me grounded is family traditions. They don’t have to be elaborate or Instagram-perfect—just consistent, heartfelt rhythms that create memories we carry for a lifetime.

For me, traditions looked different as the years passed. Growing up in Las Vegas, I had my dad by my side in our family business from the time I was twelve years old. Later, I had four kids of my own, and our traditions became simple things like Saturday pancakes, holiday lights, or annual family trips (one of my favorite memories will always be sitting by the lake in Coeur d’Alene with my kids, dreaming of someday making this place my home).
Now, I’m a Gigi to my grandson Grayson—and let me tell you, the traditions feel even sweeter. Whether it’s flying back to Las Vegas every few weeks to soak in his newest milestones or just FaceTiming to catch his giggles, I know these little moments are the traditions he’ll remember.

✨ Why Traditions Matter
🌳 They give us roots. In a world that changes fast, traditions ground us in something steady.
💞 They keep us connected. No matter how far apart family members live, traditions are the threads that pull us back together.
🌟 They build legacies. Traditions are how we pass down values, stories, and love through generations.
🌸 Creating Simple Traditions of Your Own
🌮 Weekly Rituals: Taco Tuesday, Sunday walks, or Friday night board games.
🍂 Seasonal Celebrations: First day of summer BBQ, fall pumpkin carving, winter hot cocoa nights.
✈️ Travel Traditions: A yearly family trip, or even revisiting the same local spot each season.
What matters most isn’t how “big” the tradition is—it’s the love that builds around it.
💫 Final Thoughts
Family is everything to me, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: traditions create the glue that keeps us close. They remind us what matters most when life gets noisy.
So whether it’s a holiday meal, a bedtime story, or simply showing up consistently for the people you love—never underestimate the power of family traditions. They are the legacy that outlives us all.
✨ Your Turn: What’s one tradition you treasure most in your family? Share it in the comments—I’d love to hear your stories.
